Murraya Paniculata (Mock Organge)

The ever-faithful, and popular Murraya is an easy choice for hedging and screening in your low-maintenance garden. A versatile plant that provides privacy with its dense foliage, and laden with heavily Jasmine-perfumed flowers. Regular pruning will transform this plant into a medium/tall size shrub or hedge, creating a lush screen of green. Murraya paniculata are a part of the citrus family (Rutaceae) which explains why they are commonly referred to as ‘Mock Orange’ or ‘Orange Jasmine’. Fun fact: Murraya Paniculata is native to Far North Queensland! 

Light requirement: Full sun or part shade. 
Water requirement: Minimal

Watering frequency: Water frequently when first planted to establish. Applying a layer of organic mulch around the base of the plant will help retain soil moisture.
Soil: Well-draining, rich fertilised soil. 
Skill level: Suits Beginner Green thumb, 
Growth rate: Moderate to fast growth. Mulch and water regularly to establish plant for the first 3 months. Prune every few months or more to encourage dense growth to assist in forming hedges. 
Suitable for container gardens: May be grown in container,

Flower Season: Spring/summer, will flower intermittently throughout the year in warmer climates

Fruit:  Oval fruit (approx 1cm long) turn from green to orange or bright red in colour as they mature.
